SET DESIGN by DETTA
An Editorial Photoshoot
Seeped in gothic Sicilian imagery, this wedding editorial aims to both break and pay homage to somber tradition, telling a story of star-crossed, forbidden love— an irreverent elopement from its illicit union at the alter to the cigarette nightcap. This photo series encapsulates the ripe sensuality and gluttonous overabundance depicted in both Renaissance-era still life oil paintings and generations of Italian dinner tables.
My design was influenced by my grandparents’ wedding in our ancestral land of Cefalú, Sicily, a town adorned in medieval architecture and rich, rural and regal history. With the use of handmade textiles, heirloom treasures, unpolished silver, and curated pieces, we reincarnated this tragically romantic narrative in a mystical time and place.
